Kazoodyssey: A Kazoo Odyssey (2019)

for SATB kazoo choir

To be honest, I wrote “Kazoodyssey” as a joke. But in the spring of 2019, a group of students at Haverford College formed a passionate yet ephemeral kazorus (kazoo chorus) for the specific purpose of attempting to perform it. The piece introduces a motive with simple harmonization, accelerating and modulating faster as the motive is passed between sections. It has been compared to the “Wallace and Gromit” theme song, and also to a nightmare.
